The Fourth Kind

Ok, per the recommendation of my co-worker, Meghan, I decided to get this movie off of Netflix. I only say that because I personally didn't think this movie was going to be that good. BOY WAS I WRONG (in a manner of speaking). I actually can understand where people would hate this movie and where they would love this, because I had a love hate relationship with it. On one hand, the movie was a little slow and boring for the most part. Nothing against Milla Jovavich, love you girl, but her acting was definitely not her best. Granted, the people she was doing the studies on actually did a really really good job at pretending to be under hypnosis and being terrified. There were definitely some holes in the plot, such as, if there was a policeman outside of her house when her daughter was "abducted", why did everyone think she was crazy? She can't be crazy if it really happened. On to the love aspect of this movie, I WAS TERRIFIED!!! I strongly believe in life on other planets. I just don't understand how, out of nine planets, we can be the only one with some sort of life form. Another thing, I am creeped out by hypnosis as well. I know that in a lot of situations, it's fake, but real was are disturbing. Just the thought of losing all control of your body is freaking me out right now. Back the the movie, When things started happening with her patients, with the levitation and the killing, I was on pins and needles. I think what works so well with this movie is that it can play off peoples fears of the unkown. They say this is all true, but we don't know that, and we can't say it isn't true because we weren't there. Overall, I give the movie itself a 2 out of 5 stars, and this is only because had it not been about Aliens, I know I wouldn't have found it as interesting.
